Quite possibly my favorite place to eat in Singapore, which is saying a lot, given that eating is a national pastime in Singapore (although one could argue that shopping is an equal rival).

The system here is pretty simple - you get a plate of rice, and select various options from the trays and plates behind the glass case. It's a mix of meat entrees - chicken, fish, various innards - and vegetable dishes - kangkung, bittermelon, green beans, etc. Pick a few (I've never done more than three per a plate), pay based on what you selected (in my experience $3SGD for three vegetable selections, $4SD for two vegetable selections and one protein), sit down, and eat. They also have mohinga, which I have yet to try, and small dishes of the famed Burmese tea leaf salad. Its simple food, as it's basically catering to the 100,000 plus Burmese guest workers in Singapore. Which also means that it's extremely crowded on Sundays, when they have a day off.

Service is friendly, although English skills appear to be fairly minimal. Both proprietors and customers appear tickled pink that non-Burmese would want to eat here; my Singaporean-born wife got a fair amount of curious looks (in a city full of Singaporeans, no less), let alone myself.
